The R3 Meta is a passive, three-way bass reflex bookshelf loudspeaker. It uses the same drivers as the larger R11 Meta: a Uni-Q array that combines a 25 mm vented aluminium dome tweeter and a 125 mm aluminium cone midrange on one axis, plus a 165 mm hybrid aluminium bass driver. The tweeter and midrange sit in a single point-source array, which is intended to spread sound evenly so the sound stays consistent across the room rather than at one sweet spot.
Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT) is built into the Uni-Q array and absorbs unwanted sound radiated from the rear of the tweeter. The bass driver has a shallow concave aluminium skin over a paper cone, with a magnet system designed for a uniform field. Crossover points are 420 Hz and 2.3 kHz. Magnetically fixed microfibre grilles are included, and the speaker is designed to perform with or without them.
The speaker connects to an external amplifier through its rear terminal and suits amplifiers rated 15 to 180 W. It is offered in Black Gloss, White Gloss, Walnut and an Indigo Gloss Special Edition finish. A matching S3 floor stand is available separately in three colours.
