The Kube 8 MIE is a powered subwoofer in a sealed cabinet, built around a single front-firing 8-inch long-throw driver with a large cone area and high excursion. It is driven by a 300W RMS Class D amplifier and covers 34Hz to 140Hz (-6dB). It is the smallest model in the Kube range and is aimed at smaller rooms.
DSP is handled by Music Integrity Engine (MIE), a set of proprietary algorithms that includes iBX Intelligent Bass Extension for deeper bass at any listening level. Three room-position EQ presets adapt the sound to where the unit is placed. Power behaviour can be set to Auto wake up, which detects an audio signal, to Always on, or to 12V trigger for automatic wake-up.
For connection, the rear panel has RCA phono sockets and speaker level inputs, and KEF SmartConnect is supported. An expansion port takes the optional KW1 wireless kit, so the subwoofer can be placed without a signal cable run. The cabinet measures 293 x 293 x 310 mm and weighs 9.4kg.
