The Ci160RR-THX is a round architectural speaker that fits flush into a ceiling or wall. Its Uni-Q driver places a 25 mm (1 in.) high-frequency tweeter at the acoustic centre of a 165 mm (6.5 in.) woofer, so the sound stays consistent across the listening area. The crossover frequency is 2.1 kHz, and the nominal coverage is stated as 130.
It is certified THX Ultra for architectural loudspeakers. To meet the THX Certified Ultra distortion specification, it should be installed with a 3 litre rear enclosure and the A/V processor speaker size set to small. Frequency response is 52 Hz - 24 kHz (±6 dB) open-backed. The speaker is rated at 90 dB sensitivity and 4 ohm nominal impedance, and reaches a maximum SPL of 105 dB at 1 m.
A Universal Cut-out system gives it the same opening as any 160 mm KEF speaker, which simplifies installation and choosing among models. It mounts 110 mm deep from the surface. A rear volume of at least 10 litres is needed, with 20 litres ideal. It is driven by an external amplifier rated 10-190 W, and a 38 Hz high-pass filter is recommended.
