Blade One Meta is a three-way, bass-reflex floor-standing speaker that places its high, mid and low frequency sections so they behave as a single apparent source. The centre is a 12th-generation Uni-Q driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), a maze-like structure that takes up around 99% of the unwanted sound radiated from the rear of the tweeter, reducing distortion.
Bass comes from four 225 mm aluminium-cone drivers mounted back to back so that their kinetic forces cancel. Each pair sits in its own chamber, which limits interference between the drivers and reduces the amount of damping needed. The crossover has been refined for the latest version, with crossover points at 350 Hz and 2 kHz.
The speaker is passive and is sold as a pair, so it needs a separate amplifier rated roughly 50-400 W. It is made in Maidstone, UK, comes in eight colour combinations, and a custom enclosure colour can be specified by Pantone reference. A choice of six standard Uni-Q cone colours is offered.
