iRig Voice is a handheld vocal microphone that plugs straight into the 3.5mm TRRS analog mic/headphone jack of a mobile device. It needs no extra software or drivers, so it works with a wide range of karaoke, sing-along and music-making apps. The capsule is tuned for the vocal frequency range, and its compact cardioid pickup pattern helps limit feedback when used near speakers.
The body is made of pigmented, lightweight thermoplastic and comes in five colours: green, blue, yellow, pink and white. An aluminum mesh cage protects the capsule, with a moisture barrier behind it. The microphone has an on/off slide switch for quick muting, an oversized strain relief on the cable end, and a shape that fits standard microphone stand clips.
A headphone pass-through jack on the microphone allows real-time monitoring. The free EZ Voice app for iPhone and iPad is included. It can remove the vocals from songs in the device library and adds nine effects, including pitch correction, reverb, delay, chorus and EQ, plus recording and sharing. The microphone also suits interviews, conference calls and school projects.
