The ARTIST is a MIDI keyboard controller with a velocity-sensitive, piano-style keybed. Several velocity curves can be chosen for the keys and pads, and curves can be adjusted in the iMAP software. The left side holds a dual-function encoder (press and rotate) ringed by an 11-segment LED for volume and pan, a modulation wheel and pitch wheel, and octave and transpose buttons, so main controls can be reached with one hand.
The keyboard connects over USB-C and is class-compliant, so it needs no driver on supported systems. It also has a MIDI output jack and TRS connectors for an expression pedal and a sustain pedal, with reversible sustain polarity. In User Define mode it works with Mackie Control/HUI to control faders, pans and plugins in DAWs such as Bitwig, Studio One, Cubase, Nuendo, Pro Tools, Logic, Ableton, Reason, Reaper and Samplitude. Firmware is updated over USB with iMAP.
The housing is metal with a Kensington lock port. A software bundle is included, with Native Instruments Hybrid Keys, Bitwig 8 Track, an AVA-Live channel strip, Tracktion DAW Essentials, KiloHearts Essentials and Dotec plugins. The range comes in 25, 37, 49, 61 and 88-key sizes.
