Artist X is a MIDI keyboard controller family offered in five sizes, from 25 to 88 keys. The keybed is velocity-sensitive, and its velocity curves can be customised in iMAP software. A touch-sensitive LED ribbon fader syncs with DAW channel values, and 18 assignable LED buttons sit alongside illuminated transport controls for Play, Stop, Rec, Rewind, Fast Forward and Loop.
The left-side cluster holds a dual-function encoder with an 11-segment LED ring (volume and pan), pitch and modulation wheels, and octave and transpose buttons. Mackie Control and HUI support, plus a User Define mode, allows hands-on control of mixer faders, pans and plugins in DAWs such as Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Cubase, Studio One, Bitwig, Reaper and Reason. The chassis is metal and has a Kensington lock port.
The controller connects over USB-C with USB 2.0 high-speed and is class-compliant, so no drivers are needed on Windows or macOS. It also has a 5-pin DIN MIDI output and two pedal inputs for sustain and expression, with reversible sustain polarity. The software bundle includes Native Instruments Hybrid Keys and Bitwig 8 Track.
