The AirMic is a pocket-sized wireless system built around a clip-on transmitter and an on-camera receiver. The transmitter works as a clip-on mic or a beltpack, using its built-in omnidirectional condenser capsule or an external lavalier or headset mic through its 3.5mm input. Both units have an LCD that shows gain, battery and signal strength, and each unit weighs 32 g.
Audio is sent over a proprietary 2.4GHz digital link at 48kHz/24-bit with 20ms latency. Range is 50 m in open space and up to 20 m with obstacles. Transmitter gain and receiver line-out and headphone levels are set with +/- buttons. The Duo lets two transmitters feed a single receiver, which suits interviews and two-person shoots.
The receiver outputs through a 3.5mm line-out to a camera or recorder and has a 3.5mm headphone jack for monitoring. Phones can be used with suitable adapters. Both units have built-in lithium-ion batteries charged over USB-C, and a twist-and-lock windscreen is included for each transmitter.
