The LINEAR 5 MK2 118 Sub A is a self-powered bass-reflex subwoofer built around an 18" driver with a 4" voice coil. The cabinet is made of birch plywood with an acrylic enamel finish in jet black, and the front is protected by a coated steel grille backed with acoustic foam. It reaches 129 dB average and 131 dB peak SPL, with a frequency response from 42 Hz (-6 dB) up to the crossover point.
A Class D amplifier delivers 1000 W RMS and 2000 W peak, driven by a DSP preamplifier running at 48 kHz with latency under 2 ms. The DSP provides a 10-band parametric EQ, low-pass filter, polarity, level, delay, limiter and mute. Filter presets cover Front, Cardioid 1:1 vertical, Cardioid 1:1 horizontal and Remote, so cardioid configurations can be selected without manual setup. Stereo preamplifiers simplify 2.1 systems.
Two XLR/jack combo inputs, two XLR outputs and a separate DSP output XLR handle audio. Ethercon network input and output connectors carry Milan digital audio and allow remote control through the HK Audio DSP CONTROL software for Windows and macOS. The cabinet has an M20 pole mount and two MultiGrip handles.
