The Röst is a stereo integrated amplifier built around Hegel's SoundEngine2 amplifier technology, combined with a preamplifier stage and a D/A converter. It delivers 2 x 75 W into 8 Ω and is stable down to a 2 Ω load, so it can drive a wide range of speakers. It is also meant for use with headphones. The unit won the EISA Integrated Amplifier award for 2017–2018.
On the input side it offers balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog connections, plus coaxial, optical, USB and network digital inputs. Network functions include AirPlay and Google Cast Audio, and a Sonos Connect can be integrated. A variable line-level RCA output is provided for connecting other equipment.
The chassis is painted white aluminium and steel with solid aluminium knobs and a dimmed white OLED display. A remote control machined from a solid aluminium block is supplied. The amplifier can also be controlled over IP and integrated with most smart-home systems; an IP-control table is available for custom control software, though the maker does not provide support for it.
