H4SE
The H4SE is a dual-mono power amplifier from Hegel, an upgraded version of the H4A MK2 that uses technology developed for the H20 amplifiers. It is aimed at listeners who want a high-current amplifier able to drive demanding speakers from balanced or unbalanced preamplifiers.
- More than 300 W + 300 W into 8 ohms, dual mono
- Current output of more than 200 A
- RCA unbalanced and XLR balanced inputs
- Two pairs of gold-plated speaker terminals
- Laser-trimmed Hegel SoundEngine amplifier modules
- Upgrade of the H4A MK2 with Next-Gen input stage

The H4SE is a stereo power amplifier built as a dual-mono design, with each channel split into separate voltage-gain and current-gain stages. It is an update of the H4A MK2 and takes over several technologies from the H20 range, including Hegel's Next-Gen input stage design. The maker says this gives a smoother, more rhythmic sound than earlier models in the line.
The audio circuits use laser-trimmed Hegel SoundEngine amplifier modules, and the output stages have integrated audio stages and power supplies. The output section uses 56 high-speed bipolar transistors and can deliver a current of more than 200 A, so it is intended to drive any speaker system. Power is rated at more than 300 W per channel into 8 ohms.
Inputs are RCA unbalanced and XLR balanced, so it can be used with both kinds of preamplifier. Each channel has two pairs of heavy-duty gold-plated speaker terminals. The model is listed among Hegel's discontinued products.
