The Comp is a single-width 500 Series dynamics module that brings the Harrison compressor sound to the lemon-format rack. It uses a feed-forward topology with a THAT 2180 VCA chip as the gain-control element. Attack time is program-dependent, so it adjusts to the incoming signal, while Release is continuously variable from Fast to Slow.
The range of use is wide. With a 1:2 ratio, fast release and around 2-3 dB of gain reduction it acts as a gentle leveler on vocals and guitars. With a high ratio and slow release it becomes a more saturated, characterful compressor for drums and bass. An input overload LED shows when the input is being driven too hard.
The module fits any 500 Series format chassis. It also sits alongside Harrison's own D510 rack system and the 32Cpre+ preamp and MR3eq equaliser modules. A user guide is available as a download from the maker.
