The HERO12 Black is a rugged action camera that records up to 5.3K60 and 4K120 video, with HDR available in 5.3K and 4K60. HyperSmooth 6.0 stabilization includes AutoBoost and Horizon Lock, and the 1/1.9" sensor allows a full-frame 8:7 capture with a 156° field of view. Photos reach 27 MP, and 24.7 MP frames can be pulled from 5.3K video.
Other features include 10-bit colour, GP-Log encoding with LUT support, wireless Timecode Sync across several cameras, Hindsight pre-recording of up to 30 seconds, scheduled and duration capture, and interval photo. The camera is waterproof to 10 m without a housing and has a water-repelling lens cover. A redesigned power system and the Enduro battery extend runtimes compared with the previous model.
The camera connects by USB-C, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Bluetooth audio supports AirPods and other headsets for sound recording and voice commands. Footage can be edited in the Quik app, and an optional HDMI port and microphone input come with the Media Mod. A microSD card is required and is not included.
