The Plasma Drive Eurorack takes the PLASMA distortion concept into modular format. Rather than clipping with diodes, transistors or valves, it boosts the incoming signal to 3000V and turns it into continuous high-voltage discharges inside a xenon-filled tube. The discharges are converted back into an analog audio signal.
The module adds CV control over the amount of distortion and the dry/wet mix, so it can be patched alongside other Erica Synths modules. Tracking oscillators provide an Octave Up and a Two-Octave Down function for extra harmonics, and these can be switched on or off by hand or with trigger signals. Tone shaping is handled by low and high frequency boost/cut controls.
The module fits 16HP of rack space and is 45 mm deep. It connects through a standard Eurorack power ribbon cable and draws about 250mA. A power supply is not included.
