Cunsa

CUNSA is a Eurorack module with four analog state-variable multimode resonant filters, a saturation and feedback circuit, a mixer and oscillator functions. It suits patch builders who want to refine or heavily colour a sound, either as four separate filters or as linked groups.

  • Four analog multimode resonant state-variable filters
  • LP, BP and HP outputs at once; LP selectable 12 or 24 dB/oct
  • Character circuit controls soft clipping and feedback
  • Ping circuit with selectable decay curve
  • Cascaded seminormalizations on audio, VCA CV, V/oct and Ping inputs
  • All, 1+2 and 3+4 mix outputs with high-frequency shelving EQ

Opis

CUNSA combines four analog state-variable filters, each giving lowpass, bandpass and highpass outputs at the same time. The slopes are 12 dB/oct, except the lowpass, which can be set to 12 or 24 dB/oct. A Character circuit sets how much soft clipping is applied when a filter overloads, from controlled, clean resonance to a heavily saturated, screaming tone, alongside the usual Q control.

Each filter tracks V/oct, so the cutoff can follow a melody. At high resonance the filters can self-oscillate without an input, which turns the module into a four-voice oscillator. A Ping circuit, AC-coupled and similar in behaviour to the BRENSO, answers incoming gates with a selectable decay curve for percussive, natural-sounding tones. Triggers can also be sent to the audio input to ring the filter at high Q.

The filters can work independently or in groups (4x1, 2x2, 1x4, or mixed layouts such as 1+2+1 and 3+1). This is done through cascaded seminormalizations on the audio, VCA CV, V/oct and Ping inputs, which a dummy cable breaks. Filter outputs feed an analog mix bus with All, 1+2 and 3+4 outputs, and the All output has a high-frequency shelving EQ. Each filter also has CV inputs for cutoff, Q and Character, each with an attenuverter.
