The Kingman Bass is a cutaway acoustic-electric bass in Fender's California series. It uses a mid-sized Newporter body with a solid spruce top and laminated sapele back and sides, finished in gloss poly in a Shaded Edge Burst colour with a black three-ply pickguard and a two-ring black/white/black rosette.
The nato neck has a slim C profile, a 30.3" (770 mm) scale, a 1.5" (38.1 mm) nut width and a 12" fingerboard radius. The walnut fingerboard has 20 frets, pearloid block inlays and aged white binding, and the Precision Bass-style headstock carries open-back geared tuners. A Graph Tech NuBone nut and a modern Viking bridge are fitted.
Amplification comes from a side-mounted Fishman Presys Plus preamp with an integrated electronic tuner. Its controls cover volume, bass, mid, treble, notch, brilliance and phase, plus a low-battery indicator light. The bass ships strung with Fender 8060 phosphor bronze acoustic bass strings (.045-.100) and a padded gig bag with backpack straps.
