The Hammertone Space Delay is a Fender-designed effect that emulates classic tape echo units. It offers three repeat patterns, modelled on vintage machines that used several tape heads to create different rhythmic repeats, and a maximum delay time of 950 ms. Warm, analog-style saturation and a tape-like warble shape the repeats, which can range from subtle to strongly oscillating.

A modulation switch adds a swirling, chorus-like movement to the repeats. Its rate and depth are set with internal trim pots rather than front-panel controls. A pattern switch selects the repeat pattern. Analog dry-through keeps the unprocessed signal clean while the effect is engaged, and the footswitch is true bypass.

The input and output jacks are mounted on the top edge of the enclosure, which saves board space and gives more routing options. The enclosure and hardware are metal, and the knobs carry the Fender F logo. The pedal runs from a 9-volt centre-negative adaptor, which is not included.
