The SYNTH9 is a digital, mono-audio effects pedal that tracks the signal from a guitar or bass and replaces it with emulations of well-known vintage synthesizer sounds. A preset knob selects one of nine voicings, covering lead synths, pads and synth bass. Tracking works up to about the 23rd fret on the high E string of a standard guitar and down to the open A string on a bass.
Controls are kept simple: separate DRY and SYNTH volume knobs set the blend of the untreated and synthesized signals, while CTRL 1 and CTRL 2 adjust parameters that depend on the selected preset. In the Mini Mood preset the SYNTH volume knob sets the level of the non-portamento synthesizer. No modifications, special pickups or MIDI hardware are needed.
The pedal has a single input and two outputs: a SYNTH output carrying the dry/synth mix, and a DRY output that passes the input through a buffer. A footswitch toggles between buffered bypass and effect mode, with a status LED for effect mode. It runs from the included 9.6VDC adapter and can be combined with other Machine-series pedals.
