The Spruce Goose is a mono analog overdrive built around a Marshall Bluesbreaker-inspired circuit. It aims for natural, amp-like breakup that keeps dynamics and clarity, with an output range extended beyond the original design.
A three-position LIFT switch sets how much gain is applied ahead of the drive stage: none in the low position, 9 dB in the middle and 21 dB in the high position. GAIN sets the amount of drive, VOL sets output level, and tone is shaped by a TREBLE knob and an active BASS knob that is flat at noon and boosts or cuts low end either side of it. The bass control can add weight to single-coil guitars or tighten warmer humbuckers.
Switching is true bypass using a mechanical relay. A tap on the footswitch latches the effect on and off, while holding it for more than half a second gives momentary engagement; the momentary action can be disabled. The pedal runs on an included 9V battery or an optional center-negative power supply, and has a mono input and output jack.
