The Ring Thing is a digital modulation pedal that combines ring modulation, upper and lower sideband isolation and pitch shifting in a single unit. A Mode knob selects the operating mode and scrolls through nine presets, while Coarse and Fine/Depth knobs set the modulation frequency or pitch shift amount. A Wave knob changes the modulating waveform, and the Filter/Rate knob works as a low pass filter in the ring modulator modes or as a modulation rate control in Pitch Shift mode.
A Preset/Tune footswitch loads and cycles presets and also tunes the ring modulator to the incoming signal at the instrument input. A separate bypass footswitch with status LED switches the effect in and out, using a buffered bypass. The pedal is fully programmable, and an expression pedal can be used for whammy-style effects.
The pedal has an instrument input, a modulation input for an external source (enabled by turning the Wave knob fully counter-clockwise), an expression input, and a Mono/L and R output pair for mono or stereo use. It runs from the supplied 9.6VDC 200mA power adapter.
