The Next Step Slammi is an expression-style pitch shifter that bends a guitar's pitch up or down as the player moves the treadle. It uses a newer tracking algorithm intended to avoid glitches, and can sweep as far as three octaves for polyphonic dive-bomb effects.
A MAX BEND control works as an 11-way switch that sets the maximum bend or interval: Detune, half step, major 2nd, major 3rd, perfect 4th, perfect 5th, major 6th, minor 7th, 1 octave, 2 octaves or 3 octaves (dive bomb). Mixing the dry signal with the effect produces harmonies, and the sweep direction can be reversed so that the heel-down position gives the maximum bend. The treadle has no moving parts, so there is nothing to wear out.
The pedal runs from a 9 volt battery, which is included. A 9.6DC-200BI power supply is available as an option. The model was discontinued in 2023.
