The Mole is a single-knob analog booster built around a classic low-end boost circuit. It adds up to 20 dB of low-frequency gain to the signal going into any amp. Turned up fully, it gives a deep, heavy push; with the knob backed off, it adds some body and texture to an existing tone.
The boost is centred on a frequency that moves from 400 Hz down to 200 Hz at maximum volume, so the more you turn it up, the lower the emphasis goes. The pedal has true bypass switching and sits in a compact die-cast chassis measuring 70 x 115 x 54 mm.
Power comes from a 9-volt battery, which is included, or from the optional 96DC-200BI power supply. The pedal sits in a standard instrument signal chain between the instrument and the amplifier. Electro-Harmonix lists it as discontinued in 2020, and an owner's manual is available to download.
