The LPB-3 is an analog booster and equalizer in a Nano-sized chassis. It is a modern take on the LPB-1 booster that Electro-Harmonix introduced in 1968. The output stage can add up to 33dB of clean gain, and a MAX switch limits the ceiling to either 20dB or 33dB.
Tone shaping comes from an active EQ with Bass and Treble knobs plus a parametric mid section. The mid section has separate Mid Level and Mid Freq controls, with the centre frequency sweeping from 240Hz to 3.3kHz, and a Q switch that changes the mid band between broad and narrow. A Pre-Gain knob sets the level, from unity to 20dB, before the signal reaches the EQ. This lets users avoid clipping when boosting frequencies, or add volume when cutting them. Internally extended 30V power rails give extra headroom.
The pedal is mono, with a single input and output jack. Bypass can be switched between buffered and true bypass. It runs from a supplied 9.6V DC adapter and does not take batteries.
