The Dirt Road Special is a reissue of a 1970s Electro-Harmonix amplifier, updated with revised electronics and mechanical construction for better durability. It is a compact combo with 40 watts of power and a 12-inch speaker, built around a clean tone that can be pushed into natural overdrive.
The Volume and Bite controls interact: Volume sets overall loudness and gain, while Bite adds gain and treble, so adjusting one changes the response of the other. A Tone knob shifts the balance between bass and treble. The reverb section borrows four algorithms from the Holy Grail Max pedal, selectable as Spring, Hall, Plate and Reverse, with Reverb level and Time controls. In Plate mode at maximum Time the decay runs past 30 seconds.
The guitar plugs into a 1/4-inch input with 1.5 MΩ impedance. A reverb footswitch is included and connects to the back panel with a 1/4-inch mono instrument cable; with no footswitch connected, the reverb stays on. The amp carries international safety certifications plus RoHS and REACH.
