The Bass Soul Food is a bass-oriented variant of the Soul Food overdrive. Its gain stage, treble control and signal path are set up to keep more low frequencies than the original, adding warmth and some growl to the instrument's own tone. It covers light overdrive through to clean boost.
Controls are Volume, Drive (input gain), Blend (mix of clean signal and effect) and Treble, which works as a tone control. A Pad switch lowers the input level by 10dB for active instruments. Boosted power rails provide extra headroom, and the bypass mode can be set to true bypass or buffered bypass. A footswitch engages the effect, and an LED lights when it is on.
Connections are a quarter-inch input jack and a quarter-inch amp output jack. The circuit is analog and the signal path is mono. A 9.6VDC 200mA power adapter is supplied, and the pedal draws 22mA.
