The Miracord 50 is a two-speed belt-drive turntable (33⅓ and 45 rpm). A low-noise DC servo motor turns a die-cast aluminum platter through a rubber belt. A sensor at the bearing measures the real platter speed and a closed-loop circuit corrects it. The underside of the platter carries elastomer damping material that reduces ringing and adds rotational inertia. The chassis is designed to limit vibration and feedback.

The tonearm is a static-balance, straight-tube design with precision bearings, built-in anti-skate adjustment and a removable bayonet-style headshell. An Audio-Technica AT91 moving-magnet cartridge comes pre-mounted, so tracking angle, tracking weight and azimuth are set up out of the box. The main bearing is a higher-tolerance assembly with the speed sensor built in, intended to give lower friction and rumble.

A defeatable phono equalizer amplifier applies RIAA equalization inside the turntable. This allows direct connection to line-level preamps and digital-only systems without a separate phono stage. The preamp can be switched off when an external phono stage is preferred. The model belongs to ELAC's Miracord series, alongside the MRC-601, MRC801 and MRC401.
