The Miracord 60 (MRC-601) is a two-speed belt-drive turntable playing 33⅓ and 45 rpm. A DC motor is regulated by a closed-loop servo: a sensor measures platter speed at the bearing and corrects it up to 500 times a second, which keeps speed consistent without manual adjustment and lowers wow and flutter to below 0.12%.
The platter is a 22 mm die-cast aluminium piece with a chamfered edge. The plinth is cut from a single 50 mm block of MDF, CNC machined to a tolerance of 0.1 mm to limit the effect of vibration and feedback. The tonearm is a lightweight carbon fibre tube on a gimbal bearing with a stainless steel main bearing, and it has adjustable anti-skating. A removable headshell lets the owner choose which cartridge to fit.
The Miracord name goes back to ELAC's 1957 patent for an electro-magnetic pick-up, which led to the moving-magnet cartridge design. A sales sheet and an owner's manual are offered as downloads.
