The S880DB MKII is a successor to the S880DB. It is an active two-way system in which one speaker holds the amplifiers and inputs and feeds the second passive speaker. Each cabinet uses a 1.25-inch titanium dome tweeter with neodymium magnet and a 3.75-inch long-throw aluminium mid-bass driver. Bass response reaches down to 50Hz, and a sub out port allows an external subwoofer to be added.
Signal processing uses Texas Instruments chipsets and an XMOS XU216 processor. Digital inputs accept up to 24bit/192kHz, and the speakers carry Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification. Bluetooth 5.3 supports SBC and LDAC, with LDAC allowing up to 24bit/96kHz streaming from Android 8.0 and later devices.
Sources connect through USB-C, optical, coaxial, two RCA line inputs and Bluetooth. Control is by onboard knobs or a rechargeable 2.4GHz remote, with an auto-dimming OLED display showing status. The EDIFIER ConneX mobile app provides playback control, sound effect adjustment and access to the user manual and settings. Several preset audio effects are included.
