The S3 is a closed-format wireless over-ear headphone built around 89mm x 70mm planar magnetic drivers. It uses Edifier's EqualMass diaphragm design, which combines an Audeze Fluxor magnetic structure, a Uniforce diaphragm and Fazor phase management. Stated distortion is 0.5%, and the frequency response runs from 20Hz to 40KHz.
Wireless playback uses Bluetooth 5.2 with aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX and SBC codecs, and Snapdragon Sound support on compatible devices. Multi-point connectivity allows two Bluetooth devices to be paired at once, and aptX Voice provides 32 kHz call quality. The Edifier Connect app offers preset EQs including a classic STAX sound, a low-latency game mode, and control and cushion settings. Battery life is around 80 hours, and a 10-minute charge gives about 11 hours of playback.
For wired use, an Aux-in cable and a 3.5mm to 6.35mm adaptor are included. Two earpad sets are supplied: replaceable lambskin leather pads and cooling-mesh pads for travel. Charging is by USB-C.
