The Ronin 4D combines a Zenmuse X9 full-frame gimbal camera, a 4-axis stabilisation system (a vertical Z-axis added to the usual three), a LiDAR range finder and a main monitor in a carbon fibre and aluminium-magnesium body. The 8K version records up to 8K/75fps in 2.39:1 and 4K/120fps, with a RAW licence key included; the 6K version records up to 6K/60fps and 4K/120fps in S35. Internal codecs include Apple ProRes RAW, ProRes 422 HQ and H.264, and the 6K version adds ProRes 4444 XQ and 422 LT.
The X9 has a built-in motorised ND filter set (ND 2 to ND 512), a DL mount for DJI prime and zoom lenses, and interchangeable Leica L, Leica M, Sony E and ARRI PL mounts. The LiDAR system casts up to 43,200 ranging points within 10 m and drives autofocus, a LiDAR waveform display, ActiveTrack Pro and automated manual focus with the hand grips. The Flex configuration with a 2 m extension cable reduces handheld weight to 1.8 kg.
Video is sent over O3 Pro transmission to a 7-inch remote monitor, with Broadcast and Control modes for multiple receivers. Recording goes to a CFexpress Type-B slot, USB-C external media or the DJI PROSSD 1TB, and power comes from TB50 batteries. An optional expansion plate adds SDI, XLR and timecode ports.
