The Osmo Mobile 2 is a handheld three-axis stabiliser that holds a smartphone 58.6–85 mm wide and keeps it steady while the user walks, pans or tilts. A trigger switches between SmoothTrack, which softens pan and tilt transitions, and Lock mode. The Power/Mode button centres the gimbal and swaps between the phone's front and rear cameras, and a zoom slider sits on the left of the handle. The phone holder rotates 90° for landscape or portrait use.
The gimbal pairs with the phone over Bluetooth Low Energy 4.0 and is controlled through the DJI GO app. The app adds ActiveTrack subject following, Timelapse, Motion Timelapse (up to 5 points), Hyper Timelapse, panorama, Beautify, live broadcast and adjustable joystick speed. Manual camera parameter settings are limited to iOS devices.
A built-in 2600 mAh battery runs the unit for up to 15 hours and charges in about 2 hours. A USB port at the back of the handle can also charge the phone, at 5 V and 1.5 A, during use. A 1/4"-20 UNC port on the base accepts the bottom base, the Osmo tripod and third-party accessories.
