The HEOS Amplifier HS2 is a compact stereo amplifier with built-in HEOS streaming. It drives a pair of passive speakers and joins other HEOS products in the home as a single zone, so music can be played in one room or grouped across several. It is rated at 70 W per channel into 8 ohms and 100 W per channel into 6 ohms.
Music can come from streaming services such as Spotify, TuneIn, Amazon Music and Tidal, from internet radio, from a DLNA network drive, from music stored on a phone or tablet, or from a USB storage device. Supported file formats include MP3, AAC, WMA, WAV, ALAC and FLAC (up to 24-bit/192 kHz), plus DSD at 2.8 and 5.6 MHz. Analog or optical sources can be connected to the aux input and shared with other HEOS players.
The unit connects to a network by wired Ethernet or by dual-band Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac), and it also supports Bluetooth. Controls on the unit are limited to volume, mute and setup buttons, with everyday operation handled through the HEOS app. The finish is gunmetal silver with black sides.
