The DP-400 is a belt-driven turntable with a static-balanced tonearm that has auto lift and playback stop, and a pre-mounted moving magnet cartridge with a DSN-85 stylus. An auto sensor controls platter speed, and a selector covers 33 1/3, 45 and 78 rpm, so older 78 rpm records can be played as well.
A phono equaliser is built in and can be switched on or off. With it on, the turntable connects directly to an amplifier or mini system that has no phono input. With it off, it can feed a dedicated phono stage. The tonearm uses a standard SME bayonet headshell, so a wide range of other cartridges can be fitted.
The dust cover is removable, so it does not need to stay attached during playback, and it can stand upright on the supplied base to display an album cover. Output is over RCA, and there is no USB connection. It is offered in black or white.
