The RUBICON 2 is a two-way stand-mount speaker with separate internal chambers for each driver, so each can be tuned individually. The cabinet is a solid wood laminate. It carries a 29 mm soft dome tweeter with a light voice-coil and a ferrite magnet, which extends the high-frequency range. The 6½-inch woofer uses a wood fibre cone with a light, rigid, randomly uneven surface to keep movement piston-like and limit surface resonance.
Both drivers use the SMC (Soft Magnetic Compound) system. It combines a magnet pole-piece with a slitted copper cap to reduce distortion, even at low volume. The woofer sits in a cast-aluminium chassis with a soft, low-loss rubber surround, shaped for airflow around the cone and magnet system. DALI makes the drivers in-house in Denmark.
The speaker connects to an amplifier through gold-plated terminals. It has a nominal impedance of 4 ohms and a sensitivity of 87 dB. The recommended amplifier power is 40 to 150 watts. It was offered in High-Gloss White, High-Gloss Black, Rosso and Walnut finishes.
