The G280 Select pairs an alder body with a flamed maple top and a hard maple neck topped with a rosewood fingerboard. The neck uses an Ergo-V profile and a 12"-15.75" compound radius, so chording near the nut and fast lead playing or bends higher up the neck are both covered. Compared with the earlier G280DX, it adds a pearloid pickguard, the rosewood board and a metal-covered Voiced Tone VTH-77 humbucker.

The pickup set is a Voiced Tone VTH-77 humbucker in the bridge position with VTS-63 single-coils, wired to one volume, one tone and a 5-way switch. The Cort CFA-III tremolo has stainless steel saddles, a machined steel block and a steel baseplate, and it is recessed so the pitch can be raised as well as lowered. Cort staggered locking tuners help with tuning stability and string changes.

The guitar has a bone nut, 22 medium-jumbo frets, chrome hardware and a gloss body finish with a matte neck. It comes in Amber, Trans Black and Trans Chameleon Purple, and is strung with D'Addario EXL120 strings. It is a passive electric guitar with no onboard electronics beyond the pickups and controls.
