The Cloudlifter Mini CL-25 is a small in-line gain stage that sits directly between a microphone and a preamp, mixer, stage box or wall panel. It uses the same Class-A discrete JFET circuit as the original CL-1 and provides up to +25 dB of gain, so the preamp can work at a lower setting and add less noise and coloration.
It takes power from standard +48 V phantom power supplied by the interface or mixer, so it needs no batteries. It does not pass phantom power on to the microphone, which keeps ribbon and tube mics safe. Microphones that need phantom power themselves therefore need a separate +48 V source. The 3k input impedance suits dynamic, ribbon and tube mics, and the unit can also follow a passive DI box or a wireless receiver.
The housing is solid steel with built-in gold-plated Neutrik XLR connectors, made in collaboration with Neutrik, and hard-soldered, wire-free internal circuitry. The unit is made in the USA, and the maker offers a limited lifetime warranty with registration.
