The Balance V2 is a phono stage built around a milled solid-aluminium housing, available in silver or black anodised finish. Its separate power supply sits in its own aluminium case and connects via an external cable, which keeps mains-related interference away from the signal circuitry; a ground terminal is also provided.
The unit works with moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges. MM or MC operation, the choice between XLR and RCA input, and a switchable subsonic filter are set on the underside. RIAA equalisation is specified to within ±0.1 dB. Volume is set with a front knob, and a button switches between mute and automatic mode, in which the output level is at maximum.
On the back, balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA connections can be used at the same time, with gold-plated RCA inputs and outputs. A 6.3 mm headphone output is on the front panel. The manufacturer's warranty is 3 years when the warranty card is returned within 14 days of purchase.
