Edge NQ combines an analogue preamplifier with a network streamer and a digital-to-analogue converter. The preamp stage delivers up to 6Vrms single-ended or 6Vrms + 6Vrms balanced. Its distortion is quoted at below 0.0008% from 20Hz to 20kHz, with a signal-to-noise ratio above 103dB. The preamplifier function can be switched off in the Edge app, so the unit works as a fixed line-out feeding an integrated amplifier over XLR or RCA.
On the digital side it accepts USB Audio Class 2.0 up to 24-bit 384kHz PCM or DSD256, optical input up to 96kHz and coaxial input up to 192kHz. Network playback covers UPnP, Chromecast built-in and Roon Ready (a Roon subscription is required). A front USB 2.0 port reads drives formatted FAT32, NTFS, HFS or HFS+.
Wireless and wired connections include Wi-Fi (2.4GHz), 100Base-T Ethernet and Bluetooth 4.1 with SBC, AAC, aptX and aptX HD. Control is through the Edge app for iOS and Android or the supplied remote. The unit weighs 10.2kg and measures 120 x 460 x 405mm.
