The CXUHD is Cambridge Audio's first Ultra HD disc player. It is built without DACs, a design choice intended to reduce noise and benefit sound and picture. It supports UHD discs, HDR and Dolby Vision, and plays a wide range of disc types, including UHD Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, DVD-Audio, SACD and CD, with gapless CD playback.
The player is based on a Mediatek MTK8591 decoder and handles many video, audio and picture file formats from external storage, among them MKV, MP4, FLAC, WAV and JPG. Two USB 3.0 ports take external drives, and the BD-ROM profile is Version 3.1 Profile 6.
For connections there are two HDMI outputs, one carrying video and audio and a second for audio only, which allows picture and sound to go to separate devices. Network access is through gigabit Ethernet or dual-band Wi-Fi. The unit runs from a universal 100-240V mains supply via an IEC inlet. The product is listed as archived and comes in grey.
