The CXU is a disc player that covers a wide range of formats: Blu-ray including BD-3D, DVD, DVD-Audio, AVCHD, SACD, CD, HDCD, Kodak Picture CD and recordable BD, DVD and CD media. 4K Blu-ray discs are not supported. CD playback is gapless, and music can also be streamed over the built-in network connection or played from USB storage.
Audio is handled by five Wolfson WM8740 24-bit/192kHz DACs. An Analog Devices DSP running Anagram Technologies Q5 up-sampling converts all ten channels to 24 bit/192kHz. Video is processed with Darbee Visual Presence on the primary output, and decoding is done by a Mediatek MTK8580 chip.
For connection there are two HDMI 1.4a outputs with ARC, two HDMI inputs (one with MHL compatibility on the front panel), a 7.1 multichannel analogue output, a dedicated stereo analogue output, and coaxial and optical digital connections in and out. Three USB 2.0 ports, 100BASE-T Ethernet and Wi-Fi via a supplied dongle are fitted.
