The CXA81 is a two-channel integrated amplifier that delivers 80 W RMS into 8 Ohms and 120 W RMS into 4 Ohms. It has a built-in ESS Sabre ES9016K2M DAC, so digital sources such as a TV, streamer or computer can be connected directly. The unit is listed as archived on the maker's site.
Analogue sources connect through one balanced XLR input and four RCA inputs. Digital connections include one coaxial S/PDIF, two TOSLINK optical and one USB audio input, plus integrated Bluetooth with aptX HD. USB accepts PCM up to 24-bit/384 kHz and DSD up to DSD256 or DoP256, while coaxial handles PCM up to 24-bit/192 kHz and optical up to 24-bit/96 kHz. The amplifier is Roon tested.
Outputs cover two sets of speaker terminals (A+B), a 3.5 mm headphone socket, a preamp output and a subwoofer output. A remote control is supplied, and a control bus cable is included for linking with other compatible components. The case measures 115 x 430 x 341 mm and weighs 8.7 kg.
