The 851D converts digital audio from computers, TVs and digital sources to analogue. It uses two 24-bit Analog Devices AD1955 DACs in dual differential mode. A 32-bit Black Fin DSP runs second-generation Adaptive Time Filtering (ATF2) upsampling to 24-bit/384kHz, with linear phase, minimum phase and steep filter modes.
Digital inputs are S/PDIF, TosLink optical, BNC, AES/EBU and a USB Type B port that works as a USB Audio 1.0 or 2.0 device, selectable by the user. A supplied BT100 Bluetooth dongle adds wireless input with A2DP and aptX. Sample rates reach 32-192kHz on USB Audio 2.0, S/PDIF, BNC and AES/EBU.
Analogue output is on balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA connectors. A 6.35mm headphone output is also fitted and supports 600 Ohm headphones, though 300 Ohms maximum is recommended. The unit comes in black or silver with a remote control.
