The 801 D4 is a three-way floor-standing speaker sold as a pair. It combines a 25 mm diamond-dome tweeter in a solid-body enclosure on top, a 150 mm Continuum cone midrange driver and two 250 mm Aerofoil-cone bass drivers in a vented cabinet with a Flowport.
The midrange driver sits in an all-aluminium Turbine Head, which is damped and decoupled from the bass enclosure and the tweeter body to limit resonances. A Biomimetic Suspension replaces the traditional fabric spider to reduce air pressure and coloration around the midrange cone, and a Matrix internal bracing structure and Anti-Resonance Plug are also part of the design. It is the largest model in the range, above the 802 D4 and 803 D4.
It is a passive speaker with a nominal impedance of 8 Ω (minimum 3.0 Ω) and 90 dB sensitivity, with a recommended amplifier power of 50 W to 1000 W. It connects to an external amplifier by speaker cable, with a maximum recommended cable impedance of 0.1 Ω. Cabinets come in Gloss Black, White, Satin Rosenut or Satin Walnut, with Black or Grey grilles.
