The 704 S3 is a vented-box, three-way tower with a 25 mm decoupled carbon dome tweeter, a 130 mm Continuum cone FST midrange and two 130 mm Aerofoil profile bass drivers. The cabinet is narrow, at 165 mm wide excluding the plinth, so it takes up less floor space than the larger towers in the series.
The midrange driver has its own decoupled mounting, which limits interference from the bass drivers. The carbon dome tweeter pushes the breakup point up to 47 kHz. The bass cones have a variable thickness profile, and a Flowport is fitted to the enclosure. Quoted frequency response is 48 Hz to 28 kHz ±3 dB, with 88 dB sensitivity and a nominal impedance of 8 Ω (minimum 3.1 Ω).
The speakers are passive and connect to a stereo amplifier or receiver through speaker terminals at the rear. The maker recommends 30 W to 150 W per channel into 8 Ω. Cabinets come in Gloss Black, Satin White and Mocha, with a Rosenut finish in Asia-Pacific only. The grille is black, or grey on Satin White.
