The NS-2 is a compact noise suppressor for guitars and basses. It uses a VCA and fast envelope-detecting circuitry to cut noise between notes, aiming to avoid the choppy artifacts of conventional noise gates. It addresses interference from lighting and power supplies as well as the heavier noise from overdrive and distortion pedals.

Two knobs set the behaviour: Threshold decides the level at which suppression starts, and Decay sets how long the sound takes to fade to silence once the input drops below that level. A send/return loop keeps detection on the clean input while the pedals inside the loop are suppressed, so noise reduction stays consistent when those pedals are switched on and off. A mode switch selects Reduction, where the footswitch turns suppression on and off, or Mute, where it toggles between suppression and silence for tuning or instrument changes.

The pedal runs on a 9 V battery or an optional PSA-series adaptor. With an adaptor, the DC output jack can power other pedals through an optional PCS-20A parallel cable. Connections are 1/4-inch jacks for input, output, send and return.
