Description
The DS-2 is a battery- or adaptor-powered compact distortion pedal that builds on the earlier DS-1. It offers two distortion voices: Turbo I, a midrange-focused sound with extra low end that ranges from gritty drive to heavy distortion, and Turbo II, a high-gain voice with a resonant midrange boost for lead and heavy riffing.
The circuit is discrete analog and is described as having very low noise, even at high gain. Controls are Dist, Tone and Level knobs plus a Turbo selector. The Tone control is active and shapes both high and low frequencies. The pedal uses buffered bypass and a check indicator doubles as a battery warning light.
Input, output and a Remote jack use 1/4-inch connectors. The Remote jack accepts an optional external footswitch so the Turbo mode can be switched hands-free, for example between rhythm and lead. Power comes from a 9 V battery or an optional PSA-series adaptor via the DC In jack.
