The BB-1X is a compact bass pedal in the BOSS X-series that works as much like a preamp as a conventional distortion. It uses BOSS's Multi-Dimensional Processing, which analyses the incoming signal in real time and processes it according to register, dynamics and playing style, so the character of the bass and amp stays intact while the low end is kept clear.

Tone is shaped with Level, Blend, Low, High and Drive knobs. Blend mixes the direct signal with the effect signal, while the independent Low and High controls give a wide range from natural clean sounds to heavy distortion. A CHECK indicator also serves as a battery check.

There are two outputs: a standard Output jack for a bass amp and a balanced TRS Line Out that acts as a DI feed for a PA or recorder, tuned separately from the amp signal. The pedal runs on a 9V alkaline battery, which is supplied, or on an optional PSA-series AC adaptor. It carries a five-year BOSS warranty.
