The PULSE M is a self-contained network speaker built around an Omni-Hybrid driver: a 5.25-inch upfiring woofer and two 0.75-inch tweeters set at 45 degrees to each other, with an acoustic reflector above the woofer. A DSP smart amplifier supplies 80 W of total system power and monitors bandwidth, dynamic range and distortion in real time. Frequency response is stated as 60 Hz-20 kHz ±1.5 dB.
Music is played through the BluOS Controller app on iOS, Android, Windows and macOS. The speaker supports AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect and Roon Ready, plus aptX HD Bluetooth 5.0 for streaming from other devices. It handles files up to 192 kHz and 24-bit, including FLAC, MQA, WAV and AIFF. Five touch presets give quick access to stations, services and playlists, and Alexa and Siri can control playback, although the speaker has no microphones.
It connects over Gigabit Ethernet or dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and also has a combined mini TOSLINK/3.5 mm input, a USB-A port and a 3.5 mm headphone output. Two units can form a stereo pair, work as rear surrounds with a Bluesound Soundbar and PULSE SUB+, or join multi-room groups. An optional wall mount and floorstands are available.
