The HUB takes audio from wired equipment and sends it over the network to Bluesound or other BluOS players. It has five input types: HDMI eARC with CEC, coaxial, TOSLINK optical, stereo analog RCA and a moving magnet phono stage. The phono stage lets a turntable be connected directly and streamed to other rooms.
Each unit can carry one analog and one digital stream at the same time, sent to different players. Up to four HUBs can share one network, giving eight simultaneous streams. Inputs are selected as the source for a player from the BluOS app, which runs on iOS, Android, Windows and macOS. It can also be paired with a pair of Bluesound Pulse speakers for TV sound.
The HUB joins the network over dual-band Wi-Fi 5 or Gigabit Ethernet. It is powered by an external USB-C adapter, which keeps the housing small. Control system integrations for Control4, Crestron, URC, RTI, ELAN and Lutron are listed as arriving via software update.
