TG I51

The TG I51 is a dynamic microphone with a cardioid pickup pattern, designed for close-miking instruments. Typical applications include drum kits, snare drums, floor toms and deeper tom-toms, electric guitar amplifiers and wind and brass instruments, on stage or in the studio.

The cardioid pattern rejects sound from the rear and picks up only very soft levels from the sides, which helps with isolation from ambient noise and with feedback resistance in loud environments. The housing is described as robust against vibration and impact, yet slim and relatively light, with a short shaft that keeps space requirements low when mounted on a stand or on a snare drum.

It connects through a 3-pin XLR output. The beyerdynamic MKV 87 clamp for drum hoops is listed as an accessory for snare mounting. The microphone is built by hand at the maker's production site in Heilbronn, Germany.
